For Immediate Release: November 7, 2013

NEW ORLEANS, LA (November 7, 2013) – CEO of Medical Executive Partners Heidi Raines has been accepted into the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. Medical Executive Partners (MEP), a small healthcare consulting and management firm, has grown significantly since inception in 2008. MEP is the embodiment of just what this $500 million program promotes: economic expansion in the spirit of small business entrepreneurship. Located on Canal Street in New Orleans, MEP has been a story of success emerging from the biotechnology incubator the New Orleans BioInnovation Center.

Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program is an initiative to encourage economic opportunity and promote entrepreneurial job growth of small business by providing education, financial capital, and business support services. The program is extremely competitive. To qualify, business owners are required to have been in business for two or more years, have at least four employees, a revenue stream of $150,000 – $4 million per year, and extensive growth potential.

The 10,000 Small Businesses program began in 2009 as the Great Recession began to end. Since then, it has expanded from New York to markets such as Chicago, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and Philadelphia. In November of 2010, the program was welcomed to New Orleans by Mayor Mitch Landrieu to spur economic growth and job creation. MEP’s inclusion in this program is believed to be a necessary step to pushing the burgeoning economy in New Orleans.

The program is well aligned with overarching national economic goals as well, as it aims to assist in the growth of small businesses, which employ over half of all private sector workers in the U.S. In this sense it is also unique because it focuses on the private sector, an innovative mindset due in part to the participation of business magnate Warren Buffett as a former Advisory Council Chair.
